Ethel Dawson, 61, of Kingsland passed away on Aug. 23, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.
Ethel Lurena Pines Dawson was born on May 10, 1960, to the late Rev. Cossie Pines Sr. and Jannie Jackson Pines in Grove Hill, Alabama. She received her education in the public schools of Clarke County and graduated from Clarke County High School in the Class of 1978. After graduation, Ethel joined the United States Army.
In January 1978, Ethel met the love of her life, Ezell Dawson Jr. On Feb. 11, 1995, they were joined in holy matrimony and she began her new life in Kingsland. She was a member of First African Missionary Baptist. She was employed for many years with the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted husband, Ezell Dawson Jr.; her children, Tiffany Roberts, Terrance Ervin, Traci Dawson and Terri Dawson; one grandchild, Taylyn Roberts; her siblings, Alice Billingsley, Mary Kidd, Sarah Pines, Gloria Pines, George Pines (Eula), Cossie Pines Jr. (Mary Katherine), Jack Pines (Mary) and Daniel Pines; sisters-in-law, Ida Pines, Mary Pines, Joann Jones, Katherine Dawson and Gloria Dawson; one loving and devoted brother-in-law, Arthur Spears Jr.; her best friend from the St. Marys Senior Care Center, Annie Lois Roberts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 at Kingsland Cemetery, Kingsland. A walk-thru visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Sunset Chapel. COVID rules still apply. Mask are required.
