Dyal

Mrs. Willie Mae Horne Dyal, 85, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at her home in Kingsland surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Mrs. Dyal was born on Sept. 22, 1935, in Folkston to the late Randolph and Beulah Horne.

Growing up in Browntown, she loved fishing for shad fish with her mama and daddy. On July 11, 1966, Mrs. Dyal married the love her life, Darrell, and they were happily married for 55 years. They were always together and gave the perfect example of what love and respect for one another should be.

Every year around her birthday, they would visit the Great Smoky Mountains, as it was her favorite travel destination. She was always on the go, either traveling to numerous national parks, trying new restaurants or working at Steffens, which she owned and operated with her husband from 1967-1989. Her nickname was Mrs. Clean at the restaurant because she was always cooking and cleaning up for her family even when she wasn’t at work.

Christmas was her favorite time of year, as she enjoyed decorating, shopping and cooking all of the family’s favorites. Her specialties being macaroni and cheese, potato salad and turnip greens. If she wasn’t cooking for the family, she would be playing “friendly” poker and Scrabble.

Mrs. Dyal adored her children, grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Dyal is survived by her beloved husband, Darrell Dyal of Kingsland; her children, Donna (Sammy) Hightower of Kingsland, Robert (Janice) Lowe of Waynesville, Tammy (Wade) Nettles and Stacy (Cliff) Koonce, all of Kingsland; her grandchildren, Misty Campbell, April (Vince) Rogers, Danielle Woodin, Brigitte (Kevin) Avella, Brandi Crisco, Taylor (Brendan) Bartlett, Justin Lowe, Michael (Christy) Foreman, Misty (Mike) Davison, Bradley Foreman, Samantha (Jason) Dockery and Heather (Brian) Buss; her 26 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Dyal also joins her sister, Lucille Bennett, and her brother, Carl Horne, in Heaven.

A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at Ruhamah Baptist Church, 14660 Highway 40 in Kingsland with Rev. Mike Foreman presiding. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland.
