Flanders
Thomas Lanier Flanders, 80, peacefully departed this life on July 11, 2021, after an extended illness, surrounded by family in his home in St. Marys.
Tom was born in Dublin, Georgia, to Julia Moye Flanders and Robert Lanier Flanders. He grew up in Adrian in a loving family rich environment.
He moved to St. Marys with his wife and children in January 1970 to begin his career as a project engineer at Gilman Paper Company. After retirement, he enjoyed a second career with the Camden County Sheriff’s Department in courthouse security. Since 2011 he enjoyed full retirement, visiting his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed cruising and traveling to new places.
He is survived by his devoted and loving family, Susan, his wife of 55 years; daughter Fran Jackson (Dick) of Pawleys Island, SC; son Tom Flanders (Doris) of Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren James Jackson (Lesley), Chris Jackson (Linley), Julianne Walker (Douglas), Thomas and Hannah Flanders; great grandchildren Maggie, Charlie, and Franny Jackson, Sadie Ann and Allie Jackson and James Walker; as well as numerous cousins. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, father and great granddaughter Mary Elliott Jackson.
Family has gathered to have a private celebration of his life.
