Harger

Joy Kristen Harger, 49, of St. Marys, Georgia, peacefully departed this life on July 3, 2021 after a brave battle with cancer.

Born on June 30, 1972 in Quincy, Massachusetts, to Linda Perugini Eccles and the late Robert A. Harger, Joy made St. Marys her home for nearly 30 years. (Having also resided in Connecticut, Florida, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Rhode Island) Joy touched the lives of countless people, and was her family’s free spirit and artistic light. She was generous with her time and talent, sewing and constructing costumes for Lisa Allen’s Dance Works, and Children’s Theater By the Tracks, and had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, always investigating and exploring new
topics.

Joy had a passion for gardening and was dedicated to holistic wellness, and sharing the benefits of essential oils with her family and her community. She was also a phenomenal cook of all styles and loved caring for her backyard chickens. She was the proud mother of three children, and especially admired her son Dillon’s patriotic dedication for his service in the Air Force and both of her daughters’ talent and passion for the performing arts.

Joy is survived by her loving husband Greg Theismann, mother Linda Eccles (Bernie) of The Villages, Florida, son Dillon Osmus (Robelyn) of St. Marys, two daughters Lilly and Gracie Rose, step-daughter Bailey Theismann, step-son, Joshua Theismann, two sisters Rachel McLaughlin (Rick) of Sarasota, Florida, and Amanda Greene (Kevin) of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, step-sisters, Tara Osterhout (Matt) of Wichita, Kansas, and Calley Merriman (Craig) of Waterford, Connecticut, grandchild Madison Theismann, and baby Osmus that will soon be joining us.

A memorial celebration of Joy’s life and love will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday, July 9, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the S.L.U.T.S (Southern Ladies Up To Something), Lisa Allen’s Dance Works, and the numerous friends that have faithfully nurtured the family through this difficult time.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
