Arthur Russell Leonard, 75, of St. Marys passed away at his residence on Aug. 26, 2021.

Art was born in Cartersville and was raised in Aurelia, Iowa. He attended the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, with a degree in business. He was active in the Phi Beta Lambda where he was president. He was active in the Republican party, NRA, and loved history, especially WWII. He loved when his grandchildren called him "Papa.” Art had lived in St. Marys for the past seven years coming from Dunwoody. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of St. Marys. He was a member of the vestry and men’s club. 

Survivors are his wife, Nina Leonard of St. Marys; two daughters, Gretchen Aylor of Renton, Washington, and Veshan Branham of Villa Rica; a brother, Fraser Leonard of St. Charles, Missouri; grandchildren, Connor Leonard, Soleil Leonard, Lily Aylor, Tori Branham, Harley Runion and Katelyn Honea; and great-grandchild, Corbin Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iverson and Mary Leonard, a son, Jason Harris Leonard and a brother, Iverson Leonard.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 1, 2021, at Christ Episcopal Church St Marys. Donations can be made to Mayo Clinic Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
