Mr. Albert Olen Miller, 92, formerly of Woodbine, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, April 16, 2021, in St. Marys. 

Mr. Miller was born on Sept. 9, 1928, in Woodbine to the late Allen O’Berry “Captain Jim” and Ada L Head Miller. 

Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Army from 1948–1954. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Ms. Gretchen Meier. Ms. Gretchen moved to the United States ahead of Albert completing his military service. Shortly after his discharge and return home, they were married. They shared 67 years together loving and living life well, totally devoted to one another.

Mr. Miller retired from Lamar Dean Outdoor Advertising where he managed the vehicle maintenance shop and was the captain of the Miss Billboard, the company boat used to entertain customers and for fishing trips.

In his Camden High School days, he enjoyed playing sports. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, traveling and cruises but mostly he loved gatherings with family and friends, cookouts and fish fries. 

In his own words, he said it best, “I’ve lived a long life … It’s been a good ride.”

Mr. Miller will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Gretchen Miller of St. Marys; his nieces and nephews, Elaine (Clifton) Roberson, Mark Miller, Robbyn (Wade) Thrift, Gail (Kevin) Hansel, Charlotte (Gary) Thigpen, Sheila Wainwright, and Werner, Karin and Ingeburg of Germany; along with several great-nieces and -nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and friends. 

Besides his parents, Mr. Miller also joins his sisters, Lois Adam and Betty Davis; and his brothers, Jimmie Miller, David Miller and Elmer Miller in Heaven. 

A visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Woodbine Methodist Church in Woodbine with Pastor Jan Conner and Pastor James Roberson Sr. presiding. Interment was at Colesburg Cemetery in Woodbine. Mark Miller, Matt Miller, Thomas Thigpen, Jeffrey Whitley, Clifton Roberson and Kenny Miller served as pallbearers. 

Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland is entrusted with Mr. Miller’s arrangements.
