O'Shields
Betty Jean O’Shields, 88, of Sun City, Arizona, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2021. She was born March 14, 1933, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Betty was a graduate of Spartanburg High School.
Betty loved music and loved singing in her church choir as well as playing the piano. She retired from the Naval Submarine Base in Kings Bay after a long, successful career purchasing supplies for the nuclear subs at the base. She then began a second career as a broker/owner for ReMax First Coast of Georgia in St. Marys. She loved meeting people as they moved to the area, and often became fast friends with her clients.
In 2017, Betty moved to Surprise, Arizona, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. What a joy when Betty was welcomed into her church home at FBC Sun City West! She immediately felt at home and began to plant herself into the church and community.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, William Vincent O’Shields; her mother, Nell Prusinski; and her son-in-law, Mike Hodges.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda S. Hodges (Mike, dec.) of Scottsdale, Arizona; her son, Mark Harrison (Debbie) of Gardendale, Alabama; her son, Mack Harrison (Brian) of Phoenix, Arizona; and her daughter, Pamela Coen (Jay) of Peoria, Arizona.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Brooke O’Shaughnessy (Colin) of Peoria, Arizona, and Robin Ersland (Adam) of Phoenix, Arizona; and grandsons, Scott Hodges of Anthem, Arizona, Josh Harrison (Hilary) of Mountain Brook, Alabama, and John Mark Harrison (Brigitte) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and 11 dearly loved great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at First Baptist Church, Sun City West, 17419 N. Conquistador Drive, Sun City West, AZ 85373.
