Rhonda Cecile Simmons, 63, of St. Marys, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, of a brief illness.

Rhonda was born on April 1, 1958, to Cecil Simmons and Ruthie Browning Simmons in Jacksonville, Florida. St. Marys is the only place she ever called home, where she graduated from Camden County High School, Class of 1977. Rhonda enjoyed singing in the choir at First Baptist Church where she was lifelong member. She loved to read and write, she encouraged others with cards and had a few poems that were published. She had many people that she befriended, never meeting a stranger- often complimenting people at random about anything that caught her eye! She enjoyed time with her many cousins and family during a yearly trip to Athens, Alabama.

Rhonda was loved as a daughter, sister, and as our "Aunt Rhonda.” She is survived by her niece, Beth Jones-Parker (Jesse), and nephews, Jonathan Jones (Rhonda) and Tim Jones (Brittney), as well as great-nephews Logan and Luke Barfield, and great-nieces Aubrielle Jones, Kingsley and Kylar Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil Simmons in 1973, Ruthie Simmons in 2000, and sister, Pamela Jones in 2011.

A service for her memorial was held at First Baptist Church of St. Marys on Sunday, Feb. 27. Donations in her memory may be made to the local FM 89.3 The Lighthouse Christian Radio Station, at 5465 Hwy 40 E., St. Marys, GA 31558 or www.thelighthousefm.org.
