The major hospital system serving Camden County and surrounding communities is seeking a new leader. Last week, Southeast Georgia Health System announced its president and CEO, Scott Raynes, was departing for a job in his hometown of West Virginia.

Longtime St. Marys resident Greg Lockhart will be the city’s next mayor. Lockhart, 60, collected 72% of the vote, besting St. Marys City Councilwoman Lisa James, who secured 28% of the vote in the Tuesday runoff for the city’s top political office.

Another water line break hits Kingsland

On the heels of a water line break along Satilla Street on Nov. 7, Kingsland suffered another one as a contractor damaged a line Nov. 22 in the area of Middle School Road, near Ga. Highway 40. A worker laying fiber cable caused the damage in the first break.
