USS Georgia returns to Kings Bay

The Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN 729) returned to its homeport of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay on Sep. 22, for the first time in 790 days. During the forward-deployment, the crew supported U.S. Africa, Central and European Combatant Commands.

Camden’s graduation rate continues to inch up

More Camden County students are graduating from high school, according to new data released by the Georgia Department of Education. Data released Oct. 6 shows Camden County graduated 94.3% of its students in 2022 a year after registering a 92.1% rate.

Residents return to senior care center after electrical issue fixed

An electrical issue Sunday afternoon at Southeast Georgia Health System’s Senior Care Center-St. Marys resulted in 48 residents being evacuated from the facility, but by Tuesday morning, the center was up and running, and residents were returning.

Camden County Commissioner and Readdick Construction CEO Trevor Readdick was installed as president of the Home Builders Association of Georgia at its Fall Membership Conference in Jekyll Island. “I can’t begin to express how honored I am to serve as the new president of HBAG,” said Readdick.

Southeast Georgia Health System has added board-certified radiation oncologist Dr. Philip J. Villiotte to the Cancer Care Centers and the Brunswick and Camden Campus medical staff. From a young age, Villiotte was inspired by his parents to pursue a career in health care.

Hurley is artist of the month at Olde Towne

The Olde Towne Gallery will host a reception 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, that will highlight the work of featured artist of the month of October, Jean Hurley. Refreshments will be served. Hurley is from West Chester, Pa., and learned to knit when she was only 9 years old.
