CONAWAY — Aleta Rairigh Conaway, 73, of St. Marys, passed away Sept. 5, 2022, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.

Aleta was born Oct. 18, 1948, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Marion F. and Bernice Lee Rairigh. She lived in the San Fernando Valley, Calif., until 1993, where she was employed as the accountant and office manager for Environmental Industries. She moved to Cumming, Ga., in 1993, and remained there until moving to St. Marys in 2015. Aleta was a great wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor. She was sassy and spoke her mind. She enjoyed cross stitching, putting together jigsaw puzzles and quilting in her younger years. She was a huge animal lover, and her favorite thing to do was take her rescue dog, Boo, for golf cart rides around downtown St. Marys. She enjoyed eating out at her favorite restaurants, including Angelo’s Italian Restaurant, Compa’s Mexican Grill and Cantina, and Sonny’s BBQ. Aleta loved people, which showed after her death through organ donation.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Charles M. Conaway Jr. of St. Marys; daughters, Cheryl Lehman (Bill) of Gainesville, Fla., and Patricia Lamberti (Tony) of Burbank, Calif.; grandchildren, Jacob Blodgett and Kasey Blodgett; and beloved furbaby, Boo.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Camden County Humane Society.
