Lafayette J. Curington answered the call home Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021.

He was born Sept. 25, 1987 in Jacksonville, Florida, to Rev. Laterryio T. and Linda D. Curington. He was definitely a people person, who never met a stranger. He had an unconditional love and an unbreakable bond with his son “Zyien,” who was his best friend. He exuded many talents — song writer, singing, choir director, playing the keyboard, piano, organ and drums.  Playing the drums was his first love at a very early age. Later, his father introduced him to playing the keyboard, he perfected his craft and shared his many talents with various churches, groups and bands.

Lafayette graduated from Camden County High School with the Class of 2006 where he briefly played percussion in the band and was very active in concert chorus and the gospel choir.

He leaves to cherish loving memories his parents (Rev. Laterryio and Linda Curington Sr.), son Zyien A. Curington, siblings Yuleska C. Curington, Laterryio T. Curington Jr. (Wanda), Ahmad Curington and Tiffany Abrams as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.

He had an extended family who loved him dearly. A special person who he affectionately called “grandma” Evangelist Ruby Mitchell, Ms. Tera Baker, Ayan Brown and Shayla Blackshear.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 19 at St Matthew’s Baptist Church, 116 Sixth St., Folkston, GA 31537.
