Armand Oliver DeGuire, 88, of Kingsland passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Armand was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to the late Oliver Armand  and Laura DeGuire on June 10, 1933.

Armand is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Carole Gelinas DeGuire, his daughters Carole Diane and Eunice Anne; his son, Leonard Blaine; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sisters, Marguerite Santarosa and Annette Scurr; and his brothers, Roger and wife Dot, and Gilbert and wife Valorie. Besides his parents, Armand was preceded in passing by his son, Daniel Armand, and grandson Leonard Blaine Jr.

He loved to cook. He especially loved to make his “Georgia Beans,” (baked beans with peaches and pecans) and bring them to the Lenten Fish Frys at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St Marys.

He loved to work with his hands. His first career was as a “die-sinker.” He made dies: molds made of steel for anything from brake rotors to parts of the Apollo spacecrafts. Somehow, he could see the difference of 1/64th of an inch!

After Carole and Armand became tired of retirement, in sunny southwest Florida. His second career was co-owner/co-operator of two flower shops — Surfside Florist in Bonita Springs and San Carlos Park, Florida. He loved tearing down walls, building displays and storage racks and organizing the deliveries, especially for the holidays!

He enjoyed sitting in the enclosed back porch with his glass of wine watching the wildlife, especially the deer, birds, turtles and occasionally an alligator.  He always had a smile on his face and would help anyone who was in need. He will be greatly missed by many.

A private memorial service will be held by the family in Kagawong, Ontario, Canada, where he will join his son.
