BROWN — Ella Louise Drummond Brown was born May 28, 1939, to the late Laurie Sr. and Edith Smith Drummond in Jefferson Community, Ga. Ella was the eighth child of nine siblings. She received her education in Woodbine, Ga., and graduated from Ralph Johnson Bunche High School’s class of 1958.

She was a devoted member of Westlight Missionary Baptist Church, where she proudly served on the Deaconess Ministry until her health failed.

On Feb. 13, 1965, Ella united in holy matrimony with Thomas A. Brown Sr. After serving 25 years at Sears, Roebuck and Co., Ella retired in October 1999 to devote her time to caring for her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Brown Sr.; parents, Laurie Sr. and Edith Smith Drummond; sisters, Reatha Mae Geter, Adeline Dallas and Louberta Sullivan; and brothers, Joseph, Ainsley and Laurie Drummond Jr.

On Sept. 29, 2022, in the afternoon, Ella left this Earth to join her husband and other family members to rejoice and be present with the Lord.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughters, Debra Fugate and Crystal (Cedric) King; son, Thomas A. (Lanita) Brown Jr. of Brunswick, Ga.; devoted son-in-law, Michael Fugate, and stepdaughter Sherrie Jones; two granddaughters, Kia Foster of Dunwoody, Ga., and Cekayla King of Brunswick, Ga.; four grandsons, Anderson J. Brown, Cedric Z. King II and Horace Jones III of Brunswick, Ga., and Mark Williams of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Catherine D. Lattany of Brunswick, Ga., and Essie D. McKenzie of Winter Haven, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Alice F. Holloway of Statesboro, Ga., and Wanda G. Goodman of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Homer Sullivan of Woodbine, Ga., and Timothy Brown of Statesboro, Ga.; special friend and classmate, Rosa B. Kight; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will not be a wake/visitation. Remains will lie in state one hour prior to services 10-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at Westlight Baptist Church, 6201 Old Jefferson Highway in Woodbine, Ga. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery.

Services will be live streamed through our website: royalfuneralhomeinc.com. Those planning to attend are asked to wear a mask to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
