Furlow
Betty Jo Furlow, 83, of Waverly passed away at Southeast Georgia Health System on Jan. 7, 2022.
Betty was born on March 29, 1938, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Ernest and Dorothy Gonzales. She was a homemaker and had many talents including cooking, sewing, ceramics and crafts. She retired from MWR Kings Bay Naval Base as a shop manager. For many years she was active in the local Eastern Star and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mrs. Furlow is survived by her three children, Debra Lorraine Warner of Tampa, Fl, Richard Harper Furlow, Jr (Colleen) of Hudson, Fl and Dorothy Angela Demann of Jacksonville, Florida. 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Harper Furlow Sr., a brother, Edward Gonzales Jr., and son-in-law, Henry Warner.
Betty was more than a mother and grandmother, she was also known as everyone's granny. All who knew her loved her. Her door was always open and she was welcoming. She was stern but a loving woman and was the matriarch of the family. Many sought out for advice and support and her life centered around her family. Betty's talents were many and she made the best goulash and banana pudding.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Allison Memorial Chapel with visitation to begin one hour prior to service time beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Homeward Cemetery in Waverly. A reception following burial will be held at Sarah Behrman home at 701 Catfish Landing Cr., Kingsland, GA 31548.
