Lewis Hamilton, 62, of St. Marys was called home to be with Our Lord, to a better and more beautiful home, on Jan. 9, 2022.

On March 18, 1959, God allowed a very special child, Lewis Hamilton to be born in White Oak (Tarboro community) to the proud parents of Joseph Hamilton Sr. and Ethel Lee Hamilton.

Lewis was educated in the public schools of Camden County and a graduate of Camden County High School Class of 1977. On July 29, 2009, Lewis Hamilton, after dating for over 10 years, was joined in holy matrimony to Charmaye Southall Lovett. Lewis was previously married to Cheryl Mobley and to that union, two beautiful children were conceived; Sheniqua Hamilton and Nigel Hamilton Sr. Lewis welcomed two additional loving daughters, Crystal Anderson and Cierra Lovett.

Lewis was employed by Osprey Cove Development for over 30 years. Often being recognized for superior work in landscaping and repair. Lewis is known for continuing to go above what is expected, giving 110% at all times.

You can count on Lewis/Call Lewis: Whenever called upon you could always depend on Lewis. He was a person who would fuss. A very well loved and respected man.

North River Community — The Grill Master: Known as the Grill Master for his dedicated service to the North River community for over 10 years. People would come from all around just to get a plate of his tender ribs, Boston butt, chicken or whatever he was putting on the grill. If you wanted it grilled, "Call Lewis.” If you wanted it washed down, "Call Lewis.” If you wanted it repaired, "Call Lewis.” If you wanted to be told how incorrect or stupid you were being, you did not need to call Lewis.

Preceding Lewis in death is his father, Joseph Hamilton Sr., and mother, Ethel Lee Hamilton.

Lewis is survived by a devoted, faithful and loving wife, Charmaye Hamilton; four children, Sheniqua Hamilton, Nigel Hamilton Sr., Crystal Anderson and Cierra Lovett.

Lewis who is affectionately known as Papa Lewis, leaves to cherish his memory, 10 grandchildren; Amari Hamilton, Nigel Hamilton Jr., Amaiya Green, Arianna Favors, Amina Favors, Aaron Favors, Zaire Anderson, Jah'Shi Hall, Jah'Mir Hall and Jah'Khi Hall; three caring and supportive siblings, one sister, Janice (Miguel Sr.) Vazquez, two brothers, Joseph Jr. (Sandra) Hamilton and Barry (Lucinda) Hamilton; two aunts, Louvenia Richards and Rebecca (Joe) Carter; five brothers-in-law, George Kirby Sr., Herman Southall Sr., Amos Southall, George Southall and Gregory Southall; five sisters-in-law, First Lady Lynette (Bishop John) Burroughs, Janice Southall (Dr. Jerome Goodwin), Linda Roberts (Deacon Jerry) Mathis, Felecia (Drexel) Morris and Andrea (Deacon Johnny) Simon. Lewis has a host of additional loves ones, including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will also miss him greatly.
