On Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, heaven gained one of the most precious angels. Constance “Connie” L. Jones, affectionally known to many as “Granny,” transitioned from this life to her eternal home in glory. She was born in St. Marys on Aug. 17, 1937, to the late Hiron and Reather Mae Floyd. She attended Ralph J. Bunch High School in Woodbine and the Adult Education Center in Yulee, Florida, where she completed her formal education. She worked for Gilman Paper Company Kraft Bag Division for many years until the company relocated. She then started her own home daycare where she impacted the lives of many children and their parents.

Connie was a faithful member of the Wheeler Street Church of God where she served as a devoted Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, and church mother for many years.  A God-fearing woman having a special love for people, the sweetest spirit, a heart of gold, and a smile that lit up any room that she entered. To know her was to love her.

Connie’s beautiful and blessed life consisted of loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Jones; daughter, Sherreon “Sherry” Jones; grandson, Bryan “Lil Bryan” Jones; and siblings, Shelton Floyd, Ronald Brizele and Idella Germain.

She is survived by her devoted children, Carman Attaway, Lloyd “Dwight” Jones Sr., George “Bryan” Jones, Charlotte Bridges and Christie Jones; extended daughters, Rosalyn Floyd and Tara Parker (Anthony); devoted daughters-in-law, Kathy Jones and Andrea Jones; grandchildren, Howard Attaway IV, Javan Jones, Anya Jones, Ke’Anna Ballard (Andre), Lloyd Dwight “DJay” Jones Jr., Nadia Jones, Michael Bridges (Niderah), Marcus Bridges, Jeremy Jones, Kristen Jones, Candice Randall, Corrine Randall and Marcus Williams; extended granddaughters, Kimberly Licona and Amber Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Howard “Tyrec” Attaway, London Bridges, Aiden Ballard, Alana McCloud, Brendon Bridges, Isaiah Lee, Cameron Bridges, Austin Ballard, Tess Jones and Kaiden Williams; extended great-grandchildren, Ma’Leah Thomas, Amira Licona and Zora Black; siblings, Charles Floyd, Hiron Floyd Jr. (Bernadette), Theola King, Judith Livingston, Patricia Jenkins, Reather Campbell, Dennis Floyd (Alice), Wayne Floyd (Gail), Terrance Floyd (Ernestine), Valarie Harris (Nathan), Rosalyn Floyd, Vanessa Floyd, Onniebell Floyd and Hiram Floyd (Felicia); sisters-in-law, Freddie Mae Jones and Delisiwe Floyd; godchildren, Alison Floyd and Jason Wallace; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
