Mr. Richard C. Kruysman, 77, of St. Marys passed away on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.

Richard was born on Feb. 4, 1944 in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Arthur and Charlotte Kruysman. He served militarily as a Navy Corpsman aboard the USS Long Beach and later as bar chairman for Post 348 in Brick Township, New Jersey. He enjoyed long-time employment in the printing industry as a member of the Amalgamated Lithographers of America (ALA) and also served as a volunteer firefighter in central New Jersey.

An accomplished wood and decoy carver, this “Jersey Boy” at heart enjoyed his short time living in Georgia, where he was always happy to be surrounded by friends, family and neighbors while creating delicious culinary creations and showering his guests with his genuine warmth, hospitality and incredible sense of humor. He loved to “sea” the world and loved his time spent on a variety of boats and sailing vessels he owned and cherished throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa (Begin) Kruysman of St. Marys; his son, Scott Kruysman of Colonia, New Jersey; his sister, Bettyann Pfeifer of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey.; his brother, Melvin Kruysman of Port Charlotte, Florida.; his three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; in-laws John and Cindy Begin of Hackensack, New Jersey; his beloved dogs Hooper and Teddy; and a myriad of devoted cousins and friends, who will miss him dearly.

Besides his parents, Richard is preceded in passing by his brother, Robert Kruysman.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

To honor his memory, please consider making a donation to your local Salvation Army or animal shelter.

Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland is entrusted with Mr. Kruysman’s arrangements.
