Bradford Edward Lunt, 60, passed away on Oct. 19, 2021, at his family farm in Callahan, Florida. Brad was born in York, Maine, Oct. 21, 1960, to Robert and Marion (Morrison) Lunt. He attended schools in both Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Eliot, Maine.

In 1977 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Duluth LPD-6 stationed out of San Diego, California. He completed two WEST PAC tours during his active duty with the man that will forever be known as his best friend, Dan Hohn. He returned to Maine and served as a U.S. Navy reservist for many years. He began his Department of Defense career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a machinist in 1981.

In 1990 he moved with his family to Fernandina Beach, Florida, to begin his legacy at Trident Refit Facility, Kings Bay. He held many positions at TRF, each contributing to his pride and duty to maintain SUBSAFE standards. His career highlights were being named Craftsman of the Year, special trips to Diego Garcia to complete work on “the boat” and when he was selected to participate in a sea trial. He loved sharing his knowledge with co-workers and the apprentices to support the development of the next generation of DoD employees. He retired from the Department of Defense as a chief test engineer in January 2018 after 40 years of service.

His love of fast cars began at an early age and with friends like Ronnie McNabb and Ray Smith, the streets of Eliot were never the same. Some of his favorite vehicles were his ’69 Chevy El Camino, various Chevy Novas and his pride and joy, “Vision Quest,” the 1929 Model-A roadster (street rod) that he built from the ground up. He enjoyed many hobbies including sailing, horses and farming, especially all things John Deere. He was looking forward to revitalizing their recently purchased 30-acre farm in Callahan, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert B. Lunt and brother Perry J. Lunt.

He leaves behind his mother, Marion Lunt, and sister, Patricia Walsh, both of St. Simons Island; wife of 25 years, Julia Irwin Lunt; his children, James Lunt and Stephanie (Will) Holt of Fernandina Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Avaree and Jace Lunt and Matthew, Lauren and Katherine Holt as well as many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard. The family will begin receiving friends at 3:30pm.
