MILLER — Mrs. Macy Hazel Miller, 69, of Woodbine, Ga., passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, in Jacksonville, Fla.

She was born Feb. 14, 1953, in Kingstree, S.C., to the late Elmer and Sibye Thomas.

Macy was a loving and devoted wife to her best friend, “Buddy,” of 46 years. She was a loving mother to both of her boys, who would bless her with granddaughters. The best time of her life was the day she was given the title “Ghee” by her grandchildren who she loved and adored with all of her heart.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodbine, Ga., where she took part in changing hearts as she taught many children about her Jesus. On the slow days, you would find her enjoying her time working on various crafts that she would share with her family and friends. She was an avid NASCAR fan, and on race day, you would find her cheering her favorite drivers, Rusty Wallace and Tony Stewart. She devoted 25-plus years to the Camden County School System, where she was a mentor, friend and warm smile to many co-workers and students who roamed the halls of Woodbine Elementary and Matilda Harris. During football season you would find her cheering on Georgia Bulldogs and following the Camden Wildcats on Friday nights. She never met a stranger, always saw the best in others, and offered her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. Her family was her world, and she always looked forward to those times of getting together. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, whether it be to Daytona Beach, the mountains or her new love of cruising the open seas with family.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Claude “Buddy” Miller of Woodbine, Ga.; children, Jody and Amanda Miller of St. Marys, Ga., and Erik and Jenniffer Miller of Kingsland, Ga.; sister, Penny and Jim Miller; brother, Johnny Thomas of Woodbine, Ga; grandchildren, Keegan, Kenzie, Kaiden, Jacob, Addison and Kendal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Sibye Thomas, and sister, Carrie Carter.
