TIMMONS — Marjorie (passionately called Margie) Lavetta Timmons, 71, of Woodbine, Ga., transitioned from labor to reward Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va.

On May 21, 1951, God allowed a very special child, Marjorie Lavetta Timmons, to be birthed into this world. The sun shined brightly in Nassau County when this blessed child was born to Christopher (deceased) and Laura Timmons. Marjorie was raised by John (deceased) and Annie (deceased) Hardy.

She was a 1969 graduate of Ralph J. Bunche High School. She continued her education at Brunswick Junior College in Brunswick, Ga., where she received a certification of completion in child development. Marjorie was a 1971 Thiokol Chemical Plant explosion survivor. After the explosion, Marjorie was employed as a center supervisor at Coastal Georgia Community Action Head Start.

Marjorie was always meant to be centerstage as her smile and energy encouraged so many as a majorette at her alma mater, Ralph J. Bunche High School. She loved children, arts and crafts, and was a gifted seamstress. And she loved to dance!

Those preceding her death are five siblings, Gordon Page, Lorraine Timmons, Joseph Timmons, Charles Timmons and Willie Parish, and devoted nephew, Clarence Parish.

Her children, Kevin Jacobs and Charmin (Laticia) Jacobs, will forever cherish their mother’s beautiful life. She also leaves behind her loving and devoted mother, Laura Timmons; sisters, Cynthia Timmons and Ann (Steve) Timmons; brothers, Dalton (Anna) Page, James Timmons, Timothy (Sherly) Timmons and Marvin Timmons; grandchildren, Bryanna, Zachariah, Josiah, Jamecia, Andre Jr. and Amari; and a host of devoted and loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thank you to those who gave her flowers while she could smell them. In her honor, as an alternative to flowers, you may donate to the Thiokol Memorial Project (a nonprofit organization). There will be a small private celebration for her at a later date.

Donations may be sent to Cash App: $TMP1971, or checks may be made payable to Thiokol Memorial Project Inc., Memo line: In Memory of Marjorie L. Timmons, and mailed to Thiokol Memorial Project Inc., P.O. Box 24, Woodbine, GA 31569.
