Rev. Thomas Jackson (Jack) McCollough Jr., 94, a native of Woodbine, passed away

Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, at his home at Wesley-Woods of Newnan. 

He was born May 15, 1927, in Woodbine to the late Thomas Jackson McCollough Sr. and Hilda Wright McCollough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Jones McCollough. 

Rev. McCollough attended Young Harris College before receiving a Bachelor degree from Emory University and master of divinity degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. His ministry as a member of the South Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church included serving 13 different congregational charges and chairing the United Methodist Rural Fellowship and United Methodist Volunteers in Mission. Throughout his life, Rev. McCollough epitomized a life of servanthood.

A graveside visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Homeward Cemetery near Waverly on Thursday, Jan. 6, with an interment service following at 3 p.m. officiated by Rev. J. David Hanson and Rev. Jan Conner. A memorial service will also be held at a later date for friends and family at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Atlanta. With loving concern for all in attendance, the family requests that everyone in attendance wear a mask.
