Frances Irene Peters (Farris), 77, of Kingsland passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2022.

She was born on Sept. 19,1944, in Decherd, Tennessee, to Allen Farris and Jewel Irene Farris (Fraley).

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Steve Louis Peters; daughter Debora Elizabeth Shipley Closson (George); son Timothy Matthew Shipley; four granddaughters, Ashley, Amber, Jessica and Halie; and great-granddaughters Lily, Mary Beth and Everleigh; and great-grandsons, Damon and David.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Jewell Farris, and granddaughter Melissa Closson. She was a graduate of Chattanooga Central High School, Class of 1962. After graduating high school, Frances attended a two-year program at Edmonson Business College. She worked in several different capacities as a civil service worker for the U.S. Government, where she ultimately retired in 2007 after 28 years.

She was an active member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church, where she loved to serve and help other people, and did so with the love and joy in her heart. She also volunteered as a poll worker with Camden County Board of

Elections. Frances and her husband, Steve, loved to travel. One of her favorite places was the Big Sky area of Montana, as well as Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

A celebration of life will occur at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Woodbine United Methodist Church, Woodbine. Memorial services will be conducted by Pastor Jan Conner.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Woodbine United Methodist Church, American Alzheimer’s Foundation, or the American SIDS Institute. The family would like to thank the faithful friends who provided love and support during his life. To God be the praise.
