BARNARD — Richard Barnard, 62, of Kingsland, Ga., passed away Nov. 7, 2022, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga.

Richard was born Sept. 22, 1960, in Folkston, Ga. Richard was raised in Georgia his whole life. Richard worked within the paper industry most of his life.

Richard married the love of his life, Cheryl Barnard, on July 31, 2004 in Kingsland, Ga. Richard loved traveling to new places with Cheryl and enjoyed new experiences and foods. He would have traveled to the end of the world with her. Cheryl brought a light to Richard’s life that at times when talking about her to others, He would just smile as bright as a star and crack jokes. Richard loved spending time with his siblings, children, grandchildren and family at family reunions and holidays at different places. Richard loved the beach and hunting for sharks’ teeth with his family. Riding motorcycles with his brothers and friends was a hobby he loved doing in his younger years. Richard had a diehard love for the Georgia Bulldogs. There isn’t a day any family member can recall never seeing him not wear a Georgia shirt or hat. 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Amber Mesrar.

Richard is survived by his wife, Cheryl Barnard; sisters, Diane (Dale) Lyons and Betty (Ray) Strickland; brothers, James (Tracy) Barnard, Charles (Sherry) Barnard, Glen Barnard and Clifford (Darlene) Thrift; daughters, Rachel (Derek) Hernandez, Raquel (Chris) Smith and Ashley (Skyler) Wynn; son, Blair (Jane) Kemp; son-in-law, Nadir Mesrar; sisters-in-law, Debbie Brahman and Sharlene (Jose) Krell; brother-in-law, Steven Krell; grandchildren, Kailynn (Zackary) Hernandez, Colin Hernandez, Logan (Logan) Carper, Kali (Chandler) Hodge, Braylee Carper, Kathryn Carper, Caisyn Smith, Oliver Wynn, Kayleigh Stark, Mason Stark, Jamie Crews, Johnathan Crews and JC Crews; great-grandson, Levi Hodge; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. 

Funeral arrangements are arranged and serviced by Allison’s Funeral Home. A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at the Awakening Church, 117 City Smitty Drive in St. Marys, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles in memory of Richard Barnard. 

Rich will forever be remembered for his love of his family, friends and Georgia Bulldogs. The family thanks all for the prayers and thoughts during this difficult time. Special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga., for all the love and care in his final days.
