BOWEN – It is with profound sadness the family of Richard “Rick” Arthur Bowen announces his  peaceful passing July 31 at the age of 67. Richard was surrounded by his family in St. Marys, Ga.

Richard was born in Charleston, S.C. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Dow Bowen, and grandparents, Arthur Bowen and Jennie Bowen, and Zach and Nora Smith.

He is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Irene Bowen; brother, Robert Bowen (Patricia Bowen); sister, Susan Moore; and nephews and nieces, Christopher Hooks, Jennie Corse, Dana Bacon, Brittany Loper and Christopher Bowen.

After serving in the U.S. Army, he worked as a TIG welder and later as an entertainment coordinator in Jacksonville, Fla. He moved to Kingsland, Ga., to be with family and worked in hotel management. He loved people and always loved finding out the story of others. His favorite past time was sports, with his favorite teams the Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars. He loved the Atlanta Braves. His favorite past time was visiting his mother daily and visiting with all of his family. His nieces and nephews were his joy. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.

The celebration of life services will be 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the Harbor Worship Center, 140 Colerain Road in Kingsland, Ga., with a private ceremony 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles and the Normandy Center for all the care and compassion they gave.
