BOHNER — On Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, Ryan Bohner – loving son, brother and boyfriend – passed away too soon at the age of 21.

Ryan was born June 16, 2001, in Plymouth, Mass., to Christopher and Shelly (Crawford) Bohner. As the son of a U.S. Navy submarine officer, he lived in many places across the world, moving to St. Marys, Ga., at the age 7, which from then on he considered his hometown. In 2019, he graduated from Camden County High School, and at the time of his passing was a very successful senior student and Midshipmen First Class in the Honors and Scholars program at North Carolina State University (NCSU), studying mechanical engineering and preparing for a promising career as an officer in the U.S. Navy.

Ryan was kind-hearted, welcoming and jovial with everyone he met – he could make friends with a rock if given the chance. He was known for his keen intellect, unrelenting sense of humor, infectious smile, compassionate but sometimes mischievous spirit, and love of Christ. Ryan was an influential leader and a devoted follower among his shipmates in the NROTC unit and his brothers in the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He loved his family and friends, he loved helping people, and he loved his Ford Mustangs – detailing them with care to reveal their true luster.

Ryan is survived by his father, Christopher Bohner; mother, Shelly Bohner; sister, Emily (Bohner) Hoffman; and brother-in-law, Austin Hoffman.

A funeral service open to all who knew him will be Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Kingsland First Methodist Church. Visitation is 2:30-3:30 p.m., and the funeral service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be private.

Flowers may be sent to the church located at 120 E. William Ave. in Kingsland, Ga., or donations may be made in his honor to the Ryan Bohner Memorial Fund at https://www.venmo.com/u/RB13MemorialFund.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
