Thomas “T.C.” Eugene Collins, 73, of St. Marys passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 2, 2021.
T.C. was born in Fort Benning on May 22, 1948, to Russell “Frank”and Edith Glover Collins. He resided in South Georgia his whole life, moving from Brunswick to St. Marys in 1982. He was protestant by faith, and loved anything to do with the water, especially boating, fishing and waterskiing. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. TC was also an avid poker player.
He served his country with pride and patriotism, enlisting in four branches of the military including Army, Navy, Coast Guard and National Guard. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifle M-14 Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea) and Parachute Badge. However, his most illustrious achievement was “Papa of The Year.”
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Jenifer Elliott (James) of Alma, brother Russell Collins Jr. (Lisa) of Augusta, grandchild Logan Elliott, and several nieces, nephews and a multitude of very close friends and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 8 at Allison Memorial Chapel.
