KNB earns recognition

Keep Nassau Beautiful recently earned recognition from Keep Florida Beautiful for the adopt-a-highway program. KFB held a virtual awards ceremony to recognize the top Florida affiliates of Keep America Beautiful, as well as community partners, for their environmental efforts.

‘A STORY TO TELL’

Local skateboarder living the dream

She’s not driving a car on her own yet, but 16-year-old Poe Pinson of Fernandina Beach plans to get her license when she returns from Wood-ward Camp in Pennsylvania. “It’s a huge action sports camp,” Pinson said. “It’s like a real skater kid’s dream, I guess.

County awarded Historic Resources Grant for survey

In May 2020, the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners submitted an application to the state of Florida for a Historic Resources Grant to assist with Phase 2 of a countywide historic resources survey. Nassau County received a $50,000 grant with no matching funds required.

PEG channel is reawakened under new leadership

County leaders approve capital improvement plan

The Capital Improvement Plan was approved unanimously after a lengthy discussion at the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners meeting Monday. Commissioner John Martin said he isn’t in favor of moving forward with the plan because the plan includes a flat millage rate.

Albert honored with ceremony at ballpark he loved

Plane crash claims two lives

Julia Roberts and Scott J. Bryan Three days after her husband, flight instructor David Cuttino, died in a plane crash with his student pilot, Alexis “Lexi” George, his widow took solace in a friend’s message. “A friend of ours made a nice comment,” Marion Cuttino said Monday evening.
