Funds provide economic support to residents

The 117th U.S Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 on March 11, and Nassau County will receive $17.18 million in funds. In response, the Nassau Florida Prosperity Plan was formed to supplement the American Rescue Plan.

Christie Patterson has lived in Nassau County for 11 years. Her husband is disabled. She is unemployed because she must stay at home to care for him. They do not have health insurance. Patterson learned she had diabetes in 2013. That’s when she contacted Barnabas for help.

A vessel salvage operation is under fire from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection concerning demolition work being conducted at the recently sold Pogy Plant site on the north end of Amelia Island.

Sailing club holds fourth race in 2021

The fourth race for Amelia Island Sailing Club’s 2021 racing season was held on Saturday. Sailing vessel Misty, skippered by Wilby Whitt, led throughout the race and went on to finish the 9.7-nautical-mile course in one hour and 49 minutes.

Nassau County Commissioner Klynt Farmer wants to change the county’s alcohol sales ordinance to decrease restrictions on the western portion of the county. In Nassau County, I-95 is the dividing line restricting the time bars and liquor stores can sell alcoholic beverages on Sundays.
