More than four years after damage from Hurricane Matthew closed the fuel docks at the Fernandina Harbor Marina, boaters can buy both gasoline and diesel fuel, which city leaders hope helps the city-owned facility see the light at the end of the financial tunnel.

Although there is no way of knowing how busy sea turtle nesting season will be, some mother turtles have made nests on Amelia Island since the season began May 1.  Turtle nesting season runs through the end of October.
City Commissioner Bradley Bean wants to use this vacant lot on the corner of Lime and Eighth streets to create a community garden and tree nursery. He said the only cost involved would be “a little PVC pipe” for irrigation, and that as publicly-owned property, it is fitting it is used by the community.

A woman attempting to make coffee Sunday morning started a fire that resulted in injuries that sent her to UF Health Shands Burn Center and $5,000 in damages to the boat.
