The Fernandina Beach City Commission changed course Tuesday night, rejecting a final reading of an ordinance that would use decibel levels to determine how much noise is allowed in the city and returning to use of the “plainly audible” standard.

After being closed to the public for more than a year, the Nassau County Council on Aging’s Fernandina Beach Life Center is reopening in May with in-person classes, programs and activities. The grand reopening celebration is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, May 14.
