John Morrissey, the former three-term mayor of St. Marys, died Sunday. He was 78.Morrissey, a Charleston, S.C., native, retired to St. Marys in 2007 after a lengthy career in procurement with New York-based companies.

The USS Georgia – an Ohio-class guided-missile submarine – returned from a mission for the final time Monday.According to a social media post from Submarine Group Ten, the USS Georgia will officially begin her “inactivation process” on Friday after 42 years of service.
