Qualifying for state and county races closed Friday, and most Camden County-connected incumbents are unopposed in the 2026 election cycle. District 180 state Rep. Steven Sainz (R-St. Marys) and District 3 state Sen. Mike Hodges (R-Brunswick) did not draw opponents in the May 19 primary or the Nov.

Nearly 2 1/2 years later, St. Marys City Council appears poised to begin a massive renovation project of the proposed new City Hall in midtown. At its March 2 meeting, Council voted unanimously to table approving the renovation project, opting to punt the decision to a March 23 meeting.

A 31-year-old Kingsland woman was charged with murder, according to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office jail log and a Kingsland Police Department incident report.

‘Lengthy investigation’ nets 3 arrests in joint operation

For the second time in about 25 years, St. Marys’ Orange Hall made the list of the state’s 10 Places in Peril, according to an awareness campaign led by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation.

A familiar face has returned to guide the city of St. Marys. On Monday evening, St. Marys City Council unanimously approved hiring Mike Mahaney as the city’s new manager. Mahaney, 76, served as the city’s top executive from 1990-2002.
