Rogers honored as Employee of the Quarter

At the regular meeting July 15, the Camden County Board of Commissioners recognized Melissa Rogers of the Finance & Budget Department as Employee of the Quarter. The Employee Recognition Committee selected Melissa from a pool of nominations based on her professionalism and resourcefulness.

Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Agency announced its chief executive officer, Tres Hamilton, was re-elected president of the Georgia Community Action Association (GCAA) during the 57th Annual Training & Technical Assistance Conference in July in Savannah.

Camden County students excel at SkillsUSA conference

Camden County High School’s Career, Technical, Agriculture Education Department recently participated in the SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference in June in Atlanta.

Wildfire on Cumberland Island partially contained

A bumper crop of lightning over the weekend produced a strike that kicked off a wildfire on the north end of Cumberland Island that’s now more than 10 acres. National Park Service staff became aware of the fire about 2:30 p.m. Sunday after a person spotted it north of Table Point.

Deputy county administrator back in Texas

Seth Collins’ time back in Camden County as the deputy county administrator came to an end earlier this month as he returned to Santa Fe, Texas. He’s taken over the mantle of city manager for the Galveston County city where he previously lived and his wife, Melanie, served as a city councilwoman.
