Kingsland City Council rejects alcohol license

An attempt to obtain a beer and wine license for a King Street business failed in an unusual 3-2 Kingsland City Council vote this week. The application for the license for the convenience store and deli at 500 W. King St.

The search for who would be the candidate to beat in the 2026 campaign to replace the 1st District U.S. House seat vacated by Rep. Buddy Carter found its person not long ago in Jim Kingston, the 34-year-old son of former Rep. Jack Kingston.

Saltwater Performing Arts’ Season 11 finale sets sail this summer with Gilbert and Sullivan’s classic comic opera, “The Pirates of Penzance In Concert.

Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay welcomed new leadership last Thursday morning as Capt. Bill Dull succeeded Capt. Chris Bohner as commanding officer.   “It is great to be home here in Kings Bay,” Dull said in a change of command ceremony at a packed base chapel.

Report: Police track man accused in gas station armed robbery

It didn’t take long for law enforcement officials to track a man accused of armed robbery of a nearby gas station. According to St. Marys arrest report, officers located 52-year-old Shannon Melvin Tanner a little more than an hour after an armed robbery report was called in to dispatch.
