Georgians overwhelmingly oppose the proposed mine near the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, and want the federal government to step in if necessary. That’s according to a recent poll by the Hart Research firm conducted in late July for the Southern Environmental Law Center.
A recent investigation by the nonpartisan organization Fix the Court revealed a number of gifts from University of Georgia athletics officials to Peach State federal judges, including U.S. District Court Judge Lisa Godbey Wood of the Brunswick Division of the Southern District of Georgia.

Residents graduate from citizen academy

The Camden County Board of Commissioners announced the recent graduation of 13 local residents from the 2024 Citizens’ Academy Class. The graduation ceremony took place June 20 in Woodbine. All graduates were presented with a Certificate of Completion.
