ATLANTA – State Rep. Steven Sainz, R-St. Marys, announced Gov. Brian Kemp signed House Bill 188, or Mariam’s Law, into law on Thursday, May 4. Named in honor of murder victim Mariam Abdulrab, HB 188 expands requirements for sexual offenders following release from prison.

In an effort to build excitement around the teaching profession and encourage students to pursue a career in education, Camden County High School participated in Georgia’s Future Educators Signing Day, a statewide initiative sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education on May 2.
According the Flagler County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Quinntavus Kwame Jordan, of Douglas, Ga., is accused of armed robbery in Palm Coast. Jordan fled the scene and was caught in Kingsland after a store clerk at a gas station shot the suspect.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is assisting the Kingsland Police Department after a store clerk shot a suspect Friday morning, according to a news release from the state law enforcement agency. The news release said 32-year-old Quinntavus Kwame Jordan, of Douglas, Ga.
