St. Marys Community Development Director Kenneth Hughes has resigned his city post to take a job with Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. The open position has been posted online already, and City Manager Robby Horton said the timeline to fill the job is about three months.

A new study from the University of Georgia’s Skidaway Institute of Oceanography concludes that if nothing is done, the salt marshes of the Georgia Bight will eventually disappear under rising sea levels.
