Braydon Smith of Kingsland Scout Troop 8385 was recognized as the VFW Georgia Eagle Scout of the Year in June in Macon. He was accompanied by his mother, Cheryl Smith, and younger brother, Zachary Smith, who is also an Eagle Scout. Both brothers advanced to Eagle Scout in 2022.

The Honey Badgers to perform on waterfront

The Music in the Park event Saturday, Sept. 9, will feature The Honey Badgers out of Fernandina Beach, Fla., playing from 6-8 p.m. at St. Marys Waterfront Park.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair for the concert. A food truck will be available to purchase dinner.

Kingsland City Council hears 1st budget proposal

Kingsland City Council heard its first presentation of the 2023-24 budget Monday evening, and City Council members appeared pleased with the financial progress the city is making.
The proposed budget – presented by Finance Director Filiz Morrow – includes the addition of 11.5 positions and $24.

Hurricane Idalia came and went.
On Wednesday, Camden County experiences the outer edges of the hurricane, which made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm. A late push to the west kept Camden County of her direct path, but damage and power outages were reported Wednesday and Thursday.
