Florida Power & Light is Florida’s largest solar producer with 33 solar energy centers in operation as of January, including this one in Nassau County. Universal solar energy centers have brought FPL’s current solar capacity to 2,344.5 megawatts. As of January, nine additional solar energy centers are under construction. These sites will add about 2.7 million additional solar panels to the state. Each of these solar energy centers is 74.5 megawatts.

Florida Power builds its first solar energy center in Nassau

As part of its 30 for 30 program, which commits to install 30 million solar panels in Florida by 2023, Florida Power & Light has built its first solar energy center in Nassau County at the Crawford Diamond Industrial Park in Yulee.

Lisa Finkelstein stepped into the position of Fernandina Beach Main Street executive director in November and is employing her experiences in business, fundraising and economic development to help the Fernandina Beach business community thrive.

The conclusion of a discussion in the Fernandina Beach City Commission meeting Tuesday was that the quality of the city-owned golf course is dependent on one simple question: How much money is the city willing to invest?

Oasis changes course on slip rate increases

Slipholders at the Fernandina Harbor Marina received a temporary reprieve from an increase in slip rental rates.  Oasis Marinas said it “missed the boat” when it raised some rates soon after the company took over management of the city-owned marina Dec.

Company officials say the buyout of Indigo Golf Partners by golf course management company Troon will not affect current negotiations between Indigo and the city of Fernandina Beach regarding the city’s golf course. Troon and Indigo announced the purchase Jan. 4. Golf Inc.

Little sluggers supported two teammates and other children with diabetes while earning a championship. Callahan Little League Minor baseball team Warrior Red donned blue shirts advocating for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The 10U team is comprised of boys ages 8 to 10.
