Wilder’s third leads CCHS wrestlers at Super 32

A dozen Camden County High wrestlers tackled some of the nation’s best competition at the Super 32 Challenge Oct. 18-19 in North Carolina. At 215 pounds, Ryder Wilder won six of seven matches en route to a third-place showing and All-American honors.

’Cats close season at Tift Friday

No state playoff implications govern the Wildcats’ finale at Tift, Friday’s prize simply the chance to end on a winning note. Both 0-4 in the six-school Region 1-6A, Camden County (5-4 overall) hasn’t won since Sept. 19 and Tift (3-6) since Sept. 5.

Camden Middle outlasts St. Marys in title thriller

The Coastal Georgia Middle School championship game at Chris Gilman Stadium won’t be forgotten anytime soon, after Camden Middle held off a gallant St. Marys rally to win a 42-38 heavyweight bout Oct. 22. The Cougars’ title defense wasn’t secured until the final seconds.

CCHS swims to third, eighth in Tifton

Six state-qualifying clockings highlighted the Camden County High boys swimmers’ third-place team finish last Saturday at the opening meet in Tifton. The Wildcat girls placed eighth and CCHS was third in the combined team standings with 112 total points, 100 from the boys.

Divecats register state qualifications at Moultrie meet

Camden County High divers Evan Goff and Kasch Smith qualified for the state championships with their third- and fourth-place marks at the Divecats’ opening meet last Thursday in Moultrie. Goff scored a 220.95 off a 12.7 degree of difficulty, and Smith a 201.65 with a 12.0 degree of difficulty.

CCHS flag football edges Effingham, thumps Glynn

The Camden County High flag football team ran its record to 4-3 with victories at Effingham Oct. 15 and at Glynn Academy Oct. 21. Shania Hardy ran four times for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the Lady Wildcats’ 13-12 win over Effingham. Glynn Academy fell, 20-0.

CCHS spikers split state 6A playoff matches

Camden County volleyball closed its season last Saturday, but not before making some noise in the state Class 6A tournament. Seeded third from Region 1, the visiting Lady Wildcats (22-14) bounced Region 8 runner-up Mill Creek in an opening-round three-setter Oct.

Playoff stakes are high as Wildcats invade Colquitt

A win at ninth-ranked Colquitt Friday night would not only break a long losing streak in the rivalry but also keep Camden County’s state playoff hopes flickering.  With just the Packers and Tift remaining on the schedule, the Wildcats still hunt their first Region 1-6A win (0-3).
