Boys swat Hornets, lose first two region games

A win over Roswell last week in Brunswick put the Camden County boys at double digits before they opened Region 1-6A play with two road defeats.  The Wildcats stood 10-5 overall after losses at Lowndes last Friday and Richmond Hill Tuesday.

Girls get ninth win, level region record at Richmond Hill

A Region 1-6A win at Richmond Hill Tuesday was the ninth overall for the Camden County girls, who also halted a three-game losing string.  The Lady Wildcats (9-6) tumbled to Pennsylvania foe Spring-Ford at the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational and at Lowndes in the region opener last Friday.

The Camden County High boys cagers stood 9-3 following a split of their first two games at the Hoopin’ at the High Invitational in Brunswick. The Wildcats opened by routing Glynn Academy last Saturday, then lost a nine-point verdict to Bradwell Institute Monday.

Wrestlers pin down victories at Florida tourney

Ten Camden County High boys wrestlers topped their weight classes and nine either tied for second or placed second outright at the Pirate Ships ’n Duels tournament Monday in Melbourne, Fla.

A split of their first two games at the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational put the Camden County High girls hoopsters in a third-place contest scheduled for Dec. 30.

Balanced ’Cats beat Coffee for eighth victory

Last week was one of rematches for the Camden County boys hoopsters, who stung Coffee at home three days after tumbling at Brunswick. The Wildcats stood 8-2 entering the Christmas break. They will play in the Hoopin’ at the High tournament at Brunswick starting Saturday at 10 a.m.

Camden girls fall to Coffee, Brunswick

Defeats to visiting Coffee last Friday and at Brunswick Dec. 16 sent the Camden County girls hoopsters to 7-3 ahead of a holiday tournament tipping off this weekend in Florida. The Lady Wildcats will first oppose Florida opponent Steinbrenner Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Boys wrestlers win Knockout crown with nine placers

With three champions and nine placing in the top six, the Camden County boys wrestlers outpointed a very strong field at the Knockout Christmas Classic in Kissimmee, Fla., last weekend.

Swim ’Cats top combined standings at Ware meet

The Camden County swimmers commanded the combined standings at the Ware Night Before Christmas Break Invitational, posting 54 points to beat eight schools in Waycross last Thursday.  For the boys, Clayton Simmer won both the 50 free (23.45) and 100 free (51.25), Carlos Barber the 100 back (59.
