CCHS girls soccer team posts two shutouts; boys power past Pierce

Two matches meant two shutout victories for the Camden County High girls soccer team last week, while the boys fell in their home opener after winning handily at Pierce.

NJROTC rifle team earns second at Navy Nationals

The Camden County High A team earned the silver medal at the Navy JROTC Air Rifle National Championship last weekend in Columbia, Mo., placing second overall with a 4,605 score and reaching the Interservice National Championship event next month.

Bishop Kenny netters upend CCHS

With some players seeing both singles and doubles duty, the Camden County High tennis teams tumbled at Bishop Kenny last Thursday. The Crusader boys won 4-3 and the girls 6-1.

Gymcats place third in Cartersville opener

The Camden Gymcats scored a third-place 93.79 in their opening meet in Cartersville last Saturday. Alyssa Thompson earned an 8.5 on the vault, an 8.2 on the balance beam, an 8.025 on the floor exercise, and a 7.75 on the bars.  For the floor and beam, Jamie Walker received marks of 8.05 and 8.

Wildcat boys 12th, Benedictine first at Camden Classic tourney

The Wildcat boys golfers placed 12th and Benedictine sat atop the Camden Classic leaderboard at Laurel Island Links last Saturday.  Camden County shot a collective 321 in the annual early-season tournament, which welcomed 20 teams from around Georgia.

Wildcat athletes win eight events at Yulee track meet

Camden County High boys and girls athletes won a combined eight events in the season-opening track and field quad meet at Yulee Feb. 11. The boys’ Daniel McGuirt and the girls’ Liliana Gilliard won both the 200 and 400. McGuirt’s times were 22.8 and 51.14, and Gilliard’s 27.01 and 1:03.74.

Athletes make college choices on signing day

Three Camden County High student-athletes will stay in Georgia, another will head to Florida, and another to Colorado following an enthusiastic National Signing Day celebration at the CCHS auditorium Feb. 4. Three of the five signees are football players.

’Cat boys make big splash at state swim meet

Stepping up against the best from around the state, seven Camden County High boys swimmers qualified for the finals in seven events and placed 14th as a team in the Georgia High School Association Class 6A championships at Georgia Tech last weekend.

CCHS qualifies 14 for Class 6A state traditional defense

The Camden County High boys wrestlers stormed through sectionals with nine individual champions at East Coweta last Saturday, and will have a full complement of 14 Wildcats battling in their defense of the state Class 6A traditional title this weekend.

Five reach girls state traditional wrestling tourney

Camden County High wrestlers Breanna Higgins, Peyton Rego, Kyrie-Jade Atkinson, Delaney Spencer and Gabby Daniels have qualified for the girls state traditional meet Friday and Saturday in Morrow.
