’Cat boys make big splash at state swim meet

Stepping up against the best from around the state, seven Camden County High boys swimmers qualified for the finals in seven events and placed 14th as a team in the Georgia High School Association Class 6A championships at Georgia Tech last weekend.

The Camden County High boys wrestlers stormed through sectionals with nine individual champions at East Coweta last Saturday, and will have a full complement of 14 Wildcats battling in their defense of the state Class 6A traditional title this weekend.

CCHS wins area rifle championship, adds state qualifier

The Camden County rifle ’Cats defeated Statesboro last Friday to close their sixth straight undefeated regular season and defend their Area 3 championship. CCHS delivered the day’s five best individual marks to prevail, 1,166-1,086.

Opener will be Saturday for CCHS gymnastics

Camden County High gymnastics opens its schedule Saturday, the first hopeful step in the program’s quest for state qualification.  The potential is there, according to coach Catherine Cook, and sustaining consistency and avoiding injuries will be paramount.

Boys netters win first; girls fall twice

The Camden County boys tennis team picked up its first victory Monday, while the girls remained winless after their first two outings against Brantley and Ware. This week, the boys and girls were scheduled to play at Bishop Kenny Wednesday. The Region 1-6A openers will be at Colquitt Feb. 20.

Camden girls linksters hit first drives Feb. 17

James Madison signee and state contender Georgia Blount leads six players hitting the golf course this season for the Camden County High girls linksters.  Senior Sadie Streit joins Blount, sophomore Brooke Martin, freshmen Sarah Beth Wilson and Piper Hand, and eighth-grader Addison Suddath.
