The St. Marys Police Department is investigating after a verbal argument at a stop sign escalated to a shooting midday Tuesday at Martha Drive and Highway 40, according to a press release. One man was arrested. Around 12:30 p.m.

A federal grand jury has indicted a St. Marys man for allegedly conspiring to murder a Fort Stewart soldier who reported him for using drugs while serving in the Army. The victim also reported another soldier, who is directly charged with his murder. Jordan Brown, 21, of St.

Rep Carter cancels appeal, sues Camden County

U.S. Rep. Earl “Buddy” Carter claims he was “knowingly misled” by county staff while appealing the taxable value of his property and is seeking relief through Camden County Superior Court.  A hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 27 in Judge Anthony Harrison’s courtroom in Woodbine.

Museum celebrates 25 years

What become the St. Marys Submarine Museum started as a call in the late 1980s to veterans of the silent service. The Kings Bay squadron command staff, led by now Vice Adm. Al Konetzni Jr., wrote to every sub vet they could find, asking for items to commemorate the bond between submariners.

Ferry dock construction finishes up

In the span of a year, Cumberland Island National Seashore lost the Dungeness ferry dock on the island and the only ferry dock in downtown St. Marys. More than three years later, reconstruction on both docks finished in March and the ferry is back to its regular route.

Big development news on horizon for JDA

A major manufacturer has chosen a site in the Camden County Industrial Park near Interstate 95’s Exit 7 and officials are expected to make a more detailed announcement soon.  “This is probably the biggest project we’ve ever had,” said James Coughlin, JDA executive director.
