The Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation has selected Keeva Kase to serve as its new president and CEO. Most recently, Kase served as president and CEO of BCM Georgia, a faith-based housing stability and financial education nonprofit organization in Atlanta.

Former St. Marys mayor dies at 72

Deborah Wooten Watts Hase, 72, a longtime public servant of St. Marys in multiple roles, died Sunday at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta. During her time in St. Marys, she served in many capacities, culminating in one term as mayor (2002-05) and one term as a city councilwoman (2008-11).

Ingram rolls in St. Marys special election

Turns out, the second time was the charm. Tuesday night, Chad Ingram won the special election for St. Marys City Council Post 3 with more than 65% of the vote. It was his second bid for elected office. According to the unofficial results, Ingram received 1,062 of the 1,830  votes tabulated.

Orphans and misfits will take center stage this weekend at Camden County High School. The school’s Fine Arts Department is conducting four public performances of “Oliver,” a coming-of-age musical based on Charles Dickens’ book, “Oliver Twist.

The city of St. Marys approved a flat pay raise for all employees Monday to be phased in in stages.  Starting March 29, all permanent city employees will receive an extra $1 per hour on top of the 4.

Multiple projects moving forward

During Monday’s St. Marys City Council meeting, multiple major developments took significant steps forward, including the St. Marys Commerce Park Project and two planned RV parks. Camden County Joint Development Authority Executive Director James Coughlin handed the city a $676,152.

Brunswick woman charged with homicide by vehicle

A 34-year-old Brunswick woman was arrested March 16 and charged with homicide by vehicle, first degree, non-habitual violator and serious injury by vehicle, according to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office jail log.
