TDC picks new board members, sets budget

The Amelia Island Tourist Development Council Board of Directors has two new members: Will Wiest, hotel manager at The Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island, and Lisa West, owner of the Addison on Amelia, a bed-and-breakfast on Ash Street.

CARES applications due Monday

Applicants have until Monday to apply for round two of Nassau County’s Small Business Assistant Grant Program.  The grant award is $10,000 per applicant that receives funding.

Coin drive raises more than $8,000

Ferst Readers of Nassau County held a successful second annual coin drive.  In March, the elementary schools partnered with Ferst Readers during Read Across America Week.

BOCC asked to increase taxes to support city facilities

Dale Martin, the city manager of Fernandina Beach, wants half a million dollars more every year to help fund parks and recreational facilities in the city and suggested Monday that the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners slightly raise property taxes countywide to get it.

The COVID-19 numbers for Nassau County

Tuesday, Aug. 25: The number of deaths in Nassau County reported as being related to COVID-19 increased to 16 on Tuesday, according to a post on Facebook by Nassau County Emergency Management. Over 10,500 Florida residents are now dead because of the coronavirus pandemic. Gov.

Westrec addresses its record

Westrec Marinas has been managing the Fernandina Harbor Marina for 10 years under a contract that’s set to expire in December. With the management and maintenance of the city-owned facility a point of contention since last year, the City Commission issued a Request For Proposals earlier this year.

Monkey Barrel offers fun, safe shopping

Antique store has grown with move

Lovers of art and antiques have to go no further than South Eighth Street in Fernandina Beach to find treasures old and new at Antiques & More Treasures, which recently moved from its Yulee location. Owner Vera Sue Sergent moved her store to 329 S. Eighth St.
