Fernandina restaurants close for cleaning after positive tests

As Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told a news conference Monday, the number of people in the state testing positive for COVID-19 is accelerating too fast to be attributed simply to more testing. “There’s evidence that there’s transmission within those communities,” DeSantis admitted.

“Prior to the kingfish tournament, Brad Reese and I were catching tournament-size pogies off the beaches of Amelia Island, but during the tournament day, all we could come up with were small pogies,” Mitch Fields said.

Minshew wants communication and management

City votes to move forward with new trail

Against the backdrop of Friends of Amelia Island Trail CEO Phil Scanlan dying on Monday, the Fernandina Beach City Commission unanimously voted Tuesday to move forward with another section of multi-use trails on Amelia Island, the Schools to Downtown Waterfront Trail.

Planning Advisory Board looks at city spending

Members of Fernandina Beach’s Planning Advisory Board had questions at their June 10 meeting about some financial outlays in the city’s Capital Improvement Plan, including discussions of vehicles and waterfront development, and whether capital improvements will be affected by the current recession.
