Vessels, Locklear, relay team win for CCHS track in Valdosta

Aura Vessels and Josh Locklear won individual events, and a boys relay team also triumphed for Camden County High at the season-opening Wildcat Early Bird track and field invitational last Saturday in Valdosta.  At Valdosta High, Vessels won the girls 800 (2:41) and placed third for the 400 (1:08.

Dominant ’Cats reign again at state traditional

Bradley Patterson and Ryder Wilder won their third individual titles and Isaac Santos and Brock Weaver their first last weekend in Macon, leading the Camden County High boys wrestlers to their 11th straight state traditional championship.

Wildcat boys make big splash at state Class 6A swim meet

On the strength of two top-10 finishes, the Camden County High boys finished 18th as a team last weekend at the state Class 6A swim meet in Atlanta. At Georgia Tech, Clayton Simmer had the highest placement, seventh in the 100 free (47.63). He qualified for the A final at 48.

Girls netters serve up two wins, boys one

The Camden County High netters swept Pierce and split against Brantley last Saturday at Glynn Academy, and both teams tumbled Monday to visiting Ponte Vedra. The girls stood 3-1 and the boys 2-2 ahead of the Region 1-6A openers today at Tift. Conference play continues Wednesday at Valdosta.

Rifle ’Cats add more victories as state approaches

With the state tournament drawing close, the unbeaten Camden County rifle ’Cats dispatched Benedictine and Statesboro last week, and claimed a forfeit Monday over Savannah. Undefeated Camden was to close the regular season this week with a Wednesday match.

State is next for Higgins, Small

Camden County High wrestlers Breanna Higgins and Serenity Small qualified for the state girls meet with their first- and third-place performances last Friday at sectional competition in Warner Robins.
