Three reach sectionals as girls wrestlers place seventh at area

Breanna Higgins, Kyrie-Jade Atkinson and Serenity Small qualified for sectionals and the Camden County High girls wrestlers placed seventh of 32 teams last Friday at the Area 1 tournament in Warner Robins.

Wildcat netters sweep Bishop Kenny in season openers

The Camden County tennis teams came up aces in their Monday openers with visiting Bishop Kenny, the boys cruising, 5-0 and the girls winning, 3-2.  For the boys, Dominic Rossi led the singles sweep at No. 1, dismissing Michael Pappalardo, 6-3, 6-1.

Gymcats have designs on state team qualification

High on the Camden County Gymcats’ priority list this season is team qualification for the state gymnastics meet. The Gymcats have a promising roster of 13 with four freshmen and four sophomores. The opening meet will be Feb.

CCHS boys fall at home, on road in 1-6A contests

Defeats last Friday to visiting Valdosta and last Saturday at Colquitt dropped the Camden County boys cagers to 2-6 in Region 1-6A play ahead of the last weekend of the regular season.  The Wildcats (8-15 overall) will play Friday at Tift and host Lowndes Saturday.

Improvement, consistency are goals for CCHS baseball

The gap between nine wins and hosting a state playoff series wasn’t that wide for Camden County baseball in 2024. Cleaning up the little things, the small details, could make a big difference as the Wildcats welcome some important returnees in LaDonis Bryant’s second season as head coach.

Two more victories for rifle ’Cats

Two comfortable wins last week kept the Camden County High rifle ’Cats unbeaten. A Monday match was cancelled and a Tuesday match was postponed. CCHS was scheduled to shoot today at Statesboro and Friday against visiting Benedictine.

Herron selected for National High School Football Hall of Fame

For the second straight year, a Camden County High gridiron giant will be inducted into the National High School Football of Fame.  Former head coach Jeff Herron was announced last week as one of 34 honorees and one of two Georgians who will be enshrined June 14 in Canton, Ohio.

Girls notch 14th, 15th victories

Wins over First Coast and Richmond Hill boosted the Camden County High girls to 15-6 ahead of two Region 1-6A games this weekend. Camden will host Valdosta Friday and visit Colquitt Saturday.

Boys top Richmond Hill, fall to First Coast

The Camden County boys hoopsters rebounded from a home loss last weekend to grab a Region 1-6A win Tuesday night at Richmond Hill. With the split, the Wildcats improved to 8-13 overall and 2-4 in region play. They will host Valdosta Friday and visit Colquitt Saturday.
